How do i not get banned for "leaving"* or not playing**?
I thought it would not ban me if i play unranked, but apperently it does ban.
Is there a mode where leaving has no impact?
I also don't mind when the opponend leaves.
*The additional problem is, that lichess often thinks i left even i didn't. But there are times where i have to leave a game, regardless of this bug.
**Also an additional problem that the lichess app sometimes doesn't show when a game has started (still in the loading/searching screen) and sometimes it does not react to my input (i am on android).

How not to get banned for leaving/not playing?
Not to leave running games and not to abort them.
P.S.: In order not to sound too ironic, I admit that the points mentioned under * and ** make a lot of sense to me.

I think real life is more important than chess, when something happens i have to leave a game.
I think the easiest sollution is to have a mode where leaving shouldn't cause a ban.
Playing should be for fun, why take the fun out of it by banning?

When you have to leave you resign the game, it's very simple.

I think they should add the function, where one can end the game in order to leave. Maybe there could be something like a button or something. I would even be ok with it, when the side using this button would forfeit the game.

That would be a great name for the function I want

You don't always have time to resign. And you don't know if you are back in 5s or 1min and resigning is not fun, i don't like it when the opponent does it.
I understand that there are game modes where leaving is punished, but why in every game mode?

@pfisterjohannes Im sure your opponent understands that them waiting 2min for the game to end because "you don't always have time to resign" even tho its pressing 1 button
"I understand that there are game modes where leaving is punished, but why in every game mode?"
because why would some people be willing to wait in one time control and not another?

Aside from the house burning down or similar: what leaves you enough peace of mind to start a game, but not a second to resign?

One point people complaining about this seem to ignore deliberately is that one doesn't really earn a temporary playban by abandoning a game or two. You have to repeat the behaviour for some time to get there - and even then the first playban will last only something like 10 minutes, IIRC. The subsequent ones are getting longer but that only concerns people who do not stop abandoning games even after the playban, usually until the playbans get long enough to bother them.
Which brings me to the point: sure, "life happens" and it can happen to all of us that we cannot finish a game we started. But it should not happen often enough to get you to the point of a playban. And if it does, it means that you knowingly start games even if you are well aware there is a good chance you won't be able to finish them. Which is not "life happens" or bad luck, that is a deliberate negligence and lack of consideration for your opponents. In other words, behaviour that deserves to be punished.
