That's hardly annoying. Just make decent forum posts or follow frequent posters, then it will be gone in no time

Why shouldn't they show up in your time line? Consider "closed" none of your business.
They show up because either you follow them, or they wrote in a thread you subscribed to. Both seem relevant, no matter what their current account status is.
I should be able to control my own timeline
