I set up a position on lichess board editor and then went to analysis to see mate in 2 , and the computer showed an illegal casltling of the king in which the king was on g8 and rook was on h8
Was castling enabled in settings?
I guess you set it up with castling rights enabled, making it a chess960 game.
Castling is like that way in Chess960. If there is some other issue, I do not know what it can be
Thank you for the information

Also note that the editor is not fool-proof in that regard. For example, you can enter the following position:
lichess.org/editor/2r2k1r/8/8/2PP1pp1/8/8/8/RK4R1_w_KQkq_-_0_1?color=white
This allows both sides to castle, which would be impossible with chess960.
lichess.org/editor/2r2k1r/8/8/2PP1pp1/8/8/8/RK4R1_w_KQkq_-_0_1?color=white
This allows both sides to castle, which would be impossible with chess960.
But in chess960 king has to be between rooks , isnt that the case in the link you sent , how is the castling illegal, i dont get it

That's not really a bug. You never specified that the game is Chess960, you only specified castling rights which were done exactly as you asked them.

But according to 960, the kings and rooks would be opposite each other.
@AsDaGo I agree. It supports a variant, that is otherwise not supported. Or known. :-)
