God help you Canada.

Regarding #15, I didn't insult "Charlie Angus," @botliquor4547 .

Furthermore, both he and you certainly can believe whatever you choose, I think!

So, do YOU actually think the United States intends to invade Canada?

When an MP like Charlie Angus is not kind anymore after the joke has been said too many times, a smart person like should be able to avoid the subject. My siblings and friends living in Canada would reply STFU!

What you do not understand in that???

#elbowsup

If you keep your passive aggressive weird show on this subject you know what will follow. Do not complain.

The problem with Canada is that they don't have a left-wing party.

We need another helping fast. But since we can't count on God, the smart among us are leaving.

Wow, I hadn’t heard it was THAT bad up in the Great North. Hoping for better days ahead, for all of us!
Amen to that! And yea, most non Canadians have no idea, and that's to be expected since it's not your country and Canada is not huge like USA or China. Here's to better days.

Do you think the Americans are coming for all those choice, inexpensive apartments? Or are they after ... your moose!

Well we are the second largest country in the world with huge natural resources, but what most of us believe is that any real threat is to break us down economically so we'd have to give in to Trumps demands. But we are naturally very fierce in our resistance to it. That's why Carney was elected as ThunderClap was talking about, despite an extremely unpopular PM friend of his and the fact that his party has devastated our country and now it's their fourth term in a row.
By all normal political wisdom it was an extreme long shot for them to win again. Trump upended everything.

Canada's ills are Trump's fault?

What if that's not true? What if it's just another politically convenient story? Is that remotely possible? I wonder how the Canadian truck drivers feel; I seem to recall some of them being pretty unhappy before Trump took office. Is that a false memory?

In the meantime, America sees huge, job-producing foreign investments come in, its southern border is suddenly much, much more secure, stocks recently rose for several days in a row and recently wholesale prices even seemed cheerful.

I haven't yet found pieces of sky on the ground. Maybe I don't know what sky pieces look like. But I'm pretty sure all I see on the ground outside are bird droppings.

I don't suspect that the American army is likely to take on Canada. Am I being fooled? Is somebody else? Let's check back in a couple of years, God willing, and see if people worried over a politically inspired fantasy, shall we?

In the meantime, more than one Canadian team is still playing hockey and looking good! And let's not forget Toronto or Edmonton, either. In fact, Canada is sort of rocking it right now, hockey wise. That Winnipeg team showed real grit! The world still makes sense, actually.

Which is good news for the Dallas Stars, I believe. Yeah, not all the great teams left are from Canada. But the Stars WILL have to get past a great Canadian team to keep going. Jets vs. Stars -- MUCH more interesting than politics, lately.

After all, there isn't much hand-wringing in hockey or hoops.

Did anyone say that Canada's ills are Trump's fault? I don't seem to recall anyone saying that. A lot of people are complaining that the tariffs are creating new problems, and that T is a lying sack of s**t, that it will be a cold day in hell before we respect the USAnians again, but I don't recall anyone blaming T for any of our pre-existing problems. Where do you get your information from?

As for truck drivers, are you referring to that group of right wing loony-toons who decided to "liberate" a soup kitchen and threaten the staff and clientele there? The ones with the Nazi flag? I'm pretty sure they aren't any happier today with the result of the election, now that their buddy Polly the parrot doesn't even have a seat in the HofC. But I know a few truck drivers myself, and none of the ones I know would have anything to do with that incident in Ottawa. How many do you know personally? Didn't think so. But do you imagine for a nanosecond that they spoke for anyone other than themselves?

As for the hockey, it continues. It's an entertainment business, the show must go on.

Maybe the source of information is where the original Freedom Convoy GoFundMe campaign was posted at least two dozen times?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_convoy_protest

On February 13, 2022, the GiveSendGo website was hacked and its data on donations was released to journalists and researchers through Distributed Denial of Secrets. Four days later, it was revealed that the hacker who had claimed credit, Aubrey Cottle, had been threatened with murder. In the meantime, GiveSendGo had contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation to see if he could be prosecuted. Of the 92,845 donations, 55.7 per cent of donors were from the United States, and 39 per cent from Canada. Many of the American donors' names correspond to the names of Donald Trump donors. The hack also revealed that one $90,000 donation allegedly came from American software billionaire Thomas Siebel. Some members of the Ontario Provincial Police were revealed to have donated to the convoy on GiveSendGo, prompting the OPP to launch an internal conduct investigation.

The American publication Politico reported that American right-wing commentators Dan Bongino and Ben Shapiro were among personalities directing support to the Canadian movement's crowdfunding websites. Based on research by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, from January 28 to February 5, a link to the original Freedom Convoy GoFundMe campaign was posted at least two dozen times on 4chan. According to Politico, white supremacist channels on Telegram also repeatedly shared the link

Major blockades

Alberta–Montana

On February 14, RCMP stepped in and arrested 13 people, seizing long guns, handguns, body armour, a large amount of ammunition and high capacity magazines. Four men were subsequently charged with conspiracy to murder RCMP officers.

Gear seized by police at Coutts includes a plate carrier with Diagolon patches. And one of those arrested has been involved with this Far Right Extremist Group.

Diagolon: Meme country or extremist threat?

A drug-addled demonic goat named Phillip. A fictional diagonal country running from Alaska to Florida. An alleged plot to kill RCMP officers in Coutts, Alta.

There’s a common thread uniting these topics: they’re all, in some way, tied to Diagolon.

Founders of the group say it’s all one big joke, a meme, and they’re just a group of anti-establishment comedians. The demonic goat and fictional country were the product of “several edibles,” to hear Diagolon founder Jeremy Mackenzie tell it.

You wonder how Freedom Truckers are feeling?

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpwz5d5d8l7o

Both were found guilty of counselling others to commit mischief and committing mischief, but that last finding was stayed after a request by Crown attorneys, CBC reported.

Barber was additionally found guilty of counselling others to disobey a court order.

In February, Pat King, another of the central organizers of the protest, received three months house arrest after being found guilty on five counts, including one count each of mischief, counselling others to commit mischief and counselling others to obstruct police.

Maybe this explains why they were quiet when it was the time to campaign for Pierre Poilievre - the guy who could Save Canada according to them - while actually losing his seat at the House of Commons after election.

With regard to #27, @verylate, not every comment I make is directed to what YOU write. To the contrary.

And I was responding to the following comment, which was not yours: " Trump upended everything."

Notice the quoted word "everything." It is not a word that encourages exceptions.

I'll continue to think truckers are good, hard-working people, by the way, @botliquor4547 . They contribute HUGE amounts to the public weal; few sit around and complain. Mostly, they just try to do their honest jobs, without hindrance.

That sets an excellent example.

I look forward to one or more peevish thumbs-downs. At this point, I take them as an unintended compliment.
