Great blog, great data, super proud of lichess!!! But please fix the fist in the AI drawing
Thanks! :) But what is wrong with the fist? You mean the edges on the left one or am I missing something? By the way, only the "fight" part of the image is AI generated...
But hey, I'm showing two chess pieces boxing and you complain about the fist. That's a better outcome than expected... :D

The horse is boxing with its left arm but its fist is drawn as if it's on the right arm. I think you can copy the chesscom pawn's fist and put it on the horse fist and it will look fine.

Yes I like how you composed the rest of the thumbnail it looks really nice! It's just the AI art is getting really out of hand in so many blog posts on this site. I think even if you generate some initial asset with AI (like the boxing art), the small extra work to edit the image and make it look like it's not AI generated goes a long way to make it look like you put human attention/touch on it and all people like it
This is a nice post :)
Looking at the pandemic years, Maybe I need to get caught with covid So I can become a GM XD

Damn, how did I miss that... :D Thanks for pointing it out. Now I cannot unsee it. I actually had to do a little cleanup of the image but I guess I was too focused on details.
I will try to fix that later, but cannot make any promises. The previous cleanup was already painful as the image is originally vector, but the AI part is not, so that always required some extra work...
never ceases to amaze me how a full team of designers and engineers at chess.com can't make a product a tenth as good as Lichess and basically have to pay strong players to use their site
oh my god i hate playing bullet on chess.com not only the clocks are tiny, but it feels like the board is messing with me.
when it comes to bullet, the results are skewed due to premove system preference
and with titled tuesday its expected that chess.com's blitz games will be much larger
and for rapid/classical, the not wanting to play cheaters factor is too influencial.
so maybe a 3+0 only statistic would show best which site gm's prefer for just playing chess. i'd assume chess.com would be preferred for 3+0 still, but probably also a bit sqewed, as if i were to finish a 3+1 tournament, and would like to play, i wouldnt swtich sites, just queue
or something more detailed to exclude tuesdays, or hours in which titled tuesdays are held (and i guess titled arenas too, but i dont know how popular they are)

I fixed it! Now both are fighting with their right arm... Thanks again for pointing it out.

I actually checked multiple more things in the back but they all turned out to have a rather small influence. I excluded all Titled Tuesdays (based on the event name) but this only had a tiny impact. It looked like most players just keep playing afterwards or already join earlier. And excluding a whole Tuesday might be a bit too much. Then there is also "Early Tuesday" and "Late Tuesday" so it's not really clear where to draw the line in the end so I did not continue on that part.
Regarding specific time controls (like 3+0), I might still generate some statistics on that later, but for now I tried to focus on the big picture.

I guess that makes sense, just the Titled Tuesday can't possibly result in as many games as other 6 week days. I guess that means, at least for now, chess.com is more often chosen by GM's to just play (excluding mechanics and events)
