You need to start chess as young, play and study chess a lot and have a teacher. Mostly it asks a lot of hard work. You will get some title, whether it is FM, IM or GM. 100 IQ is enough.

As far as I know: average IQ is around 100 among around 2500 rated GMs. If there is a study telling otherwise please let me know. Top players are of course different: their average IQ is higher than players with rating 2600 or less. You need to start chess as young, play and study chess a lot and have a teacher.
