What will be the future of chess?

The Future of Chess is bright as long as everyone stays away from changing rules that have remained constant for around 300 years ... Leave well-enough alone

The future of chess will involve players using AI coaches to train smarter. Online platforms will make chess more fun and popular through streams and creative events. More people around the world, especially kids, will start playing. New technologies like virtual reality and brain control may change how we play. At the same time, better tools will be needed to stop cheating.

According to the latest estimates chess will be solved in the year 2137 by quantum computers powered by micro-black holes. Actually there are even rumors that chess has already been solved in secret labs as a forced win for white in 258 moves however they don't want to release that information because they fear chess players across the world would riot.

I think the future of chess will be in three dimensions. Not only that the pieces on the board are three-dimensional, or the board itself - that is the case today already, but that the plan of the board itself will consist of three dimensions, so that developments as the possibility to fly (not only to walk, jump and run) will be depicted.

It'd be interesting if the future of chess comes out.

Think chess was invented by the gods. Even they haven’t solved chess yet. Has 64 squares like 64-bit computing.

Bingo. Compared to other mindsports, the barriers to entry for new or returning players are quite low. Keep it that way and the growth will take care of itself.

Rioting chess players strikes fear into the hearts of, well, nobody, ever. ;-)

I believe the most well-considered, conceptually mature chess variant is Trice's.

Be careful with AI. It has the phantom menace.

It’s as well as with classical music. Few people nowadays struggle to preserve its rules and constants. The masterpieces will live forever, but this thread has only few slots to new ones. Chess isn’t so close to its end but goes to it.

ChessVariants has a wide range of pages of 3D games (the earliest of which have appeared in the previous century): https://www.chessvariants.com/index/mainquery.php?category%5B%5D=3d&language=English&orderby=LinkText&displayauthor=displayauthor&displayinventor=displayinventor&submit=Search

Everyone has the right to have his/her own opinion, but so do I.
