Puzzle

Do you know which piece can be on h4, where the question mark is?
Or, put differently: with what piece on h4 (the square is not empty), can the position below result from a legal sequence of moves, with the pieces starting from their normal starting position in a chess game?
Other question: does anyone know the composer of this problem? (I would have liked to mention that person, but I don't know the source.)

This problem (as many other retrograde analysis chess puzzles) can be found in Raymond Smuyllan’s book « The chess mysteries of Sherlock Holmes ». Very fun book!
