regarding the ban, Moderation should be open on it. Even the source code is open, right? :)
Explaining why exactly somebody was banned can in some cases help other cheaters avoid getting banned.
@Whitedancingrockstar I could see your point if they were disclosing *how* they were catching cheaters, but I'm only asking *what* his offense was, which should definitely be public information. We can look up sex offenders in a registry but we can't know what got someone banned on a chess site? Meanwhile cheaters are slapped with big red badge when they are caught?

Mods should be open about their reasons for banning in order to: a) inform users of the specifics of their implementation of the rules to avoid more cheating, and b) avoid mod abuse and banning for malicious/self-interested reasons. Not saying that's what's going here necessarily, but these are two potential problems that can be avoided if mods answer questions with transparency rather than sarcasm @lovlas.
