Premoved the last 4 moves and yet...somehow I lost 2 seconds time and therefore lost the game. Note it is easy straight to mate, no thinking and no options for opponent. What is going on here? Sometimes I feel there are these inexplicable lags that cost you the game.
Any idea?

Your internet was unfortunately bad.

@hamstra premoves are client-side only meaning even if you do them your move only gets sent to lichess when you get the move which means you can still loose time as it might take more than 1s to get from lichess to you and back again or lag comp does not comp you full

FICS had timeseal to prevent these kinds of issues, and they really did not happen as far as I know. ICC had something like that, if I'm not mistaken. I guess Liches is a bit less robust in communications then...
You start to wonder why premoves are not sent to the server asap anyway, as they should.
Also I can't imagine that bullet 1/0 would work with a these type of vatiable lags...are you sure premoves are not sent as soon as possible, in the time the opponent is thinking? I am a software developer and it just seems weird.
(I have an extremely fast and stable internet connection BTW)

@hamstra lichess has said no to timeseal because people could mess with it and gain free moves.
"You start to wonder why premoves are not sent to the server asap anyway, as they should."
because if you change your mind then send a different move it might not reach the server before your opponent plays. meaning you play x then decide to play y but x gets played because you were slow
"(I have an extremely fast and stable internet connection BTW)"
speed matter not ping does and not ping to speedtest but to lichess
do ping lichess.org -n 100 on windows to test how "stable" your connection is lower better and smaller dif between max and min also better

What matters is your distance to Lichess (France) and the speed of light (299792 km/s). The time it takes light to travel from you to the server is the time the move gets played.

That's just the bare minimum, or lower bound. The route will probably not be the shortest, direct path, there are several network devices on the way which can add some delay / lag, ...

the servers between you and lichess all the those hops account for more lag than the actual distance

For what it's worth, you didn't lose the game. It was a "Draw by time and insufficient material."
Draws by insufficient material occur when your time runs out in a position without the possibility for your opponent to mate you.
I'm not sure when a draw by time occurs, though. How can both clocks run out without the game ending when the first clock does?
Does somebody else know about this?
