Would be great to provide some settings, so I could exclude russians from my matchmaking. Seeing russian flag and thinking about them playing while their soldiers kill children and rape women makes me sick.

I understand where you are coming from but we should not exclude russians because not alll of them support putin. I understand avoiding someone that as the username "ILOVEPUTIN" but it's not the russians fault they're russians. What if you were russian and everyone hated you soul for that fact even though you're against Putin. You won't be happy would you?
Lichess decided to not remove Russian Flags, as far as I know, because some Russians could identify themselves with the country, their nation, but not with their master.

Lichess did more than chess . com, so I'm ok with the platform.

> This whole Russofobia due to the war reminds me of racism aginst Chinese people back in early '20, because some idiots believed that had the virus...
The coronavirus did start in china so I can't argue with the rumors since they aren't rumors, they are the truth
most russians don’t support the war at all, and im pretty sure most of the ones that do just don’t have the correct information, i’ve heard putin is lying about the war on russian tv and making it look like they’re not the bad guys somehow. but hey what do i know i’m just a dumb kid with a cell phone. point is you cant judge every russian in the world because of the terrible things putin is doing

You literally contradicted yourself. You said that there are some Russians against the war, but then you say that all Russians are responsible for Russia's actions?! HOW is that logical?!!?
@acidburnburn
Seems like acid burnt you from inside and not physically!
A flag is the identity of people of that nationality.
You can't remove one's identity for some group (soldiers) of that particular country.
After all, the fault of the war is not of all Russians rather only of the administration/government of country.
Plus, having a feature like you want will be recognised as discrimination and Lichess does not encourage malpractices.

I did not. I am ok with logic, that's why I play chess, right?

If there are couple of percents of russians who are against the war but not gonna do anything, I don't care. These are negligible values only proving the main rule. Instead of unicorns, fairies and good russians I see the reality: russia (as a country, not just personally putin) attacked Ukraine and kill Ukrainians. Since russia is the country of russians it is very logical to conclude that they are responsible for it.
I made already countless analogies with Germans of 1930-40s being responsible for the crimes of nazi Germany. It is the same with russia and russians today.

I am all for freedom of speech (and so is Lichess), but that should not extend to inciting rule breaking (aborting games) or to advocating for discrimination against players based on their declared country of origin.

Thanks in advance.
