Maritzburg Online Chess

This team is for all online chess players around pmb. However players from neighbouring cities are allowed as well with limited capacity.

Mission:
Our mission is to promote the game of chess in Pietermaritzburg. We believe that there's a lot of hidden talent within our communities and this team will give players an opportunity to display their problem solving skills and creativity. Not only that but to also compete with other players while you at home abiding to the rules and regulations of lockdown.

Vision:
Our vision is solely on improvement, it's really hard to test what you have studied when you're alone at home and not having anyone to play with. Playing with someone who's in the same city as you are is totally different from playing with people who live in other countries, with that being said we believe that it's better and exciting to participate with people you can always meet in person if you want to.

We will be having online tournaments with various time controls. Some of the tournaments will be funded meaning that there will prizes to be won. We will have rankings table whereby all points acquired during the tournaments will accumulate to your name to determine the top player in the team!. It will be tough so brace yourselves.

Code Of Conduct:
Cheating is strictly prohibited!. It will be treated as a serious offense especially since some tournaments will have prizes. A person who cheats will face disciplinary procedures and should they continue to cheat, they will be removed from the team. Please note that Lichess has a way of catching people who cheat. And the cheating dictator system with support from the moderators has since been increased to really strict levels. You will not survive 2 games if you cheat!!.
