Never, will not use AI ever no way. So all of the chess coaches want to lose their jobs? Why are we replacing people who need methods of income with a static, boring, inhuman machine? Should be abandon all human connection?
In truth, Artificial Intelligence does not really exist as common sense would have us believe. When you play against a chatgpt, it makes a lot of mistakes (https://jenshahade.substack.com/p/chatgpt-is-weirdly-bad-at-chess), it is just a parrot, but aligned with the engines it can work miracles, through tools like https://app-chesscoach.vercel.app. Chess is the game of feedback, so it helps a lot, but obviously all AI will only generate more work, more data to be analyzed, difficult for a beginner, that is why coaches will never disappear.
it's not about AI replacing coaches(that won't happen), but rather about leveraging AI tools to make training easier and more personalized. The idea is to enhance the coaching experience, not replace human insight and guidance.
I believe this is a great idea. The stress of dealing with human coaches is sometimes much. Depending on what you want out of the game. I believe if an AI coach exists, I'll want one
I'd say we have about 5 more years until this is fully implemented
Another quality post on Lichess.
Keep them coming with more context based examples and data backed research wherever possible!
AI based coaches might help for better communication among players and coaches who are already specialized in something. We can't stick to classical chess anymore as the de-facto standard.
Tbh, it's actually a great time now for some particular variant to standout, something with a unique design philosophy but with fundamental characteristics of chess. While 960 might be good for intermediary tournament play, a compact variant that bewilders even an AI would be a turning point in history of this game.

The Chilean grandmaster Mauricio Flores Rios claims that he is very close to launch a high quality AI coach program see https://www.perpetualchesspod.com/new-blog/2025/5/13/ep-434-gm-mauricio-flores-rios-the-acclaimed-chess-structures-author-on-how-to-approach-different-chess-imbalances-chess-amp-ai-and-the-missing-ingredient-in-freestyle-chess
Can you share any details about the status of your AI-project? What will be different compared to the one of Mauricio?
Do anyone of you know of AI coaches for chess? Where it tells you in text your mistakes...
I tried to avoid promotions in my post, but many chess platforms already integrate AI behind some features. However, an AI that you can chat with to gain insights about your game, train with, and receive personalized recommendations hasn't been built yet – that's what we're working on. More details will follow in my next blog post.
