As a therapist specializing in Exposure Response Prevention, I appreciate this article.
@AdamJKSuperman Thank you for sharing that! It means a lot coming from someone with your expertise. It's amazing how concepts like battling the 'invisible opponent' can resonate in both therapy and other areas of life. I'd love to hear more about how you approach these challenges with your clients. Your perspective is so valuable
The idea of ERP is essentially facing things which create a lot of discomfort (like losing in a chess game) and moving forward to build tolerance and confidence. I find that our preferences impair our ability to accept reality. Chess is a great way to learn acceptance of things beyond our control. I know from experience because I play despite not being very good at it. I lose a lot.
Thank you for the nice blog post, and for using real images instead of AI generated images.
@AdamJKSuperman I feel this on a deep level! Losing in chess is like life’s way of saying, 'Guess what? You're still human.'
But hey, at least in chess, the board stays the same; unlike life, where even pawns have secret agendas!"
@FunnyAnimatorJimTV
Thank you for the kind words! I believe real images add a more personal touch and make the message feel more authentic. Glad you appreciated it!"
As a 53 year old surgeon I learned how to deal with incidents ( inaccuracies, mistakes, blunders ) in my job.( they really happens and not only minor ones )
As a chess player ( a beginner one ) I always feel so frustrated making anobvious mistake, now I see I am not alone and may be there is the same way how to deal with them
@janmagdo Wow, if a surgeon can handle high-stakes mistakes, I think there's hope for all of us blundering away on the chessboard! You're definitely not alone; chess is basically a humbling reminder that we’re all human. But hey, at least in chess, no one’s life is on the line, just a pawn or two!"
this proves my point of chess is not a strategic game only but a phsycological war either against yourself your opponent or both
