I am a new player who only played the occasional game growing up until my oldest daughter showed some unusual interest in the game which led me to start learning more about it to better support her interest. The game caught me in a funny way and now I can't stop playing and studying it. I have a lifelong interest in martial arts and feel that my sudden interest in chess stems from the way it is making use of the same neural real estate as my martial arts training. I can feel the same kinds of processes at play and find that fascinating.
