How to Spot a Cheater Before Your Game Even Starts

1. "your rating and your nerves aren’t refunded."
Your rating is.

2. "Of course, many usernames are random or goofy. But if you see things like:

Hikaru_12345
StockfishLevel8xD
A jumble of random letters/numbers with no meaning
...it’s worth a second look. Some cheaters cycle through throwaway usernames with no attachment to reputation."
What does the username Hikaru_12345 have thats strange?
After all, the 10th placed rapid player in the current rankings has an unusual username with no apparent meaning.

3. "Some cues only appear during the game, but you can still spot them from move 1:
Playing Instantly in Complex Positions
If you notice them making the first 10 moves in 0.1 seconds each in offbeat openings, it’s a potential flag.
Wide Opening Repertoire
Cheaters often play random openings because engines don’t care about prep. If your opponent plays the Budapest, then the Scandinavian, then the Modern, then the Pirc, all with equal confidence, it’s worth being cautious."
If it only appears DURING the game, how can all these openings happen? Unless of course you're playing a few games.
What's the need for all this paranoia? Even Carlsen has a 55% win rate. Instead of all this nonsense, shouldn't we be concerned about the other 50% of losses and finding out why? If the cheater wants to have a performance of 75% or more, he will be eliminated from Lichess sooner or later. The question is: why do I lose? In my case, because I always blind a bishop. And again, the question is what to do, as an alternative to this flaw of my 50% losses? If Carlsen discovers why he loses 50% and works on it, he will level up, and that's what matters...

Agree with the most mentioned. I could add one more: i often notice cheaters having a high rating and at the same time you can see they have done poorly solving puzzles. This should be easy for a highly rated chess player of course. Unless they are cheating to get the high rating. They often don't seem to bother to cheat for the puzzle however, since it doesn't affect rating.
