Usually, when a game of chess starts on Lichess, each player is given 40 seconds to make their first move or the game is considered abandoned. While this is a functional system in most chess variants where the starting position of the board is known before the game begins, this is not the case for chess960, where the starting position is randomised. It is hence requested that, for chess960, the clock starts counting to allow the players to think of their first move for more than 90 seconds or however much time is given in chess960 before the game is abandoned.
