Feature request: Studies > Interactive Lesson > Popular, Optimal, Possible moves

I have suggestions for the development of studios designed for learning openings. A lot of things have already been done in LiChess Tools for this. And I agree that this may become the main focus of LiChess Tools development in the near future :)

I found a very good way to learn openings in the ChessKing application (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chessking.android.learn) - the "Opening trainer" section. It would be great if similar features were implemented in LiChess Tools.

  1. Opponent's Moves
ChessKing offers a choice of different options for how the opponent will make moves: Popular, Optimal, Possible.
Popular - based on the statistics of moves from the Chess opening book.
Optimal - the best, in terms of evaluating the engine.
    Possible - all possible moves.

Currently, there is an option in LiChess Tools that is similar in implementation to Popular, but it makes moves in general from the customized Opening explorer, without reference to the PGN being studied. I would like the studied PGN to suggest possible opponent's moves based on the customized Opening explorer (my games, the games of the masters, the games of some player, the saved settings of the opening book type 1600+).

A similar interaction of the studied PGN could be done with the Optimal and Possible options. At the same time, Optimal moves could be calculated in the course of learning by the engine or linked to a pre-calculated estimate of moves in PGN.

  1. Change the opponent's move
Right during the learning of the opening in ChessKing, you can change the opponent's move option. To do this, click on the button (arrows pointing in different directions) in the upper-left corner of the screen.
This allows you not to wait for the studio to offer you an alternative option, but to see for yourself how else the opponent can respond and try to remember the response moves.

Hi, @DikiyDrozd , sorry for replying so late. I missed this in the forum.

So in principle what you're saying is doable, but at the same time it requires a lot of UI. Also, it would combine concepts that are now completely separate modules: interactive lessons, practice, Explorer practice, computer evaluation. I have a task in my list about something like that, but more in the sense of selecting what kind of moves to generate when creating a "line".

I will look what ChessKing does, but I have like 70 tasks for apps that I need to investigate or ideas to explore. I don't think this will happen any time soon.

But I am grateful for your ideas. Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the reply. Actually, you're right. I thought about my suggestions again. It is necessary to make it so that the user can manually change the computer's possible response to another move from the tree of possible moves. This would help to study possible answers more effectively without waiting for a computer to suggest them.
