Is classical time control = cheating nest?

I've NEVER reported any player for possible cheating in blitz nor rapid (although got a surprise refund of points several times, without being suspicious of the players) .... Like literally never.

But in the last 2 days I've reported 2 players after classical games, I got crushed robot style! (even at my poor level this doesn't happen in such a way, you just "feel" something is fishy, it's hard to explain). Of course, I checked their accounts and saw that both of them, separately, won several classical games in a row with almost perfect play (zero or one inaccuracy), one of them play bad blitz at 1000 - 1100 level, the second one failed to solve 1000 level puzzles .... but the classical games with them were harder than playing stockfish level 6 .....

I lose a LOT of games, in both rapid and blitz, I get mad and tilted, but I don't get robotically outplayed like that even by 2000-rated players ....
It would be fine, if there were some consistencies between classical play and blitz for example, but you see a huge difference in level and "style" and relatively new accounts with strange activity and

But since all of this isn't a prove of cheating, my question is, did you ever notice that in classical time control this ... interesting thingy .... is much more problematic?

I had someone told me that they stopped playing classical on Lichess because of cheaters, but I was surprised, since I expect that people who play classical are more serious about chess in general ....
But after playing few "robotic" games and seeing couple of "strange" accounts and checking their classical games, I started to get the impression that classical games don't get enough attention from moderators ....

The first one I reported two days ago, still active, although it is so obvious that he's fishy! plays god-level classical games, winning all almost perfectly, but at the same time making huge mistakes in 1000 level blitz .....

I wanted to rant more, but I'm tired from typing, so I'll stop now.... for now .... meow.

Is classical time control = cheating nest?

Not in my experience. I'm not sure but I think I have not encountered a cheater in classical yet.

Although I sometimes get the feeling you describe. I usually check back sometimes on these accounts and I have always been wrong in the end. Sometimes I play with 98% accuracy, maybe my opponents feel like their walking into a brick wall too on those occasions, who knows.

Sometimes if you blunder early then the opponent will seize it and then win with 97+ accuracy.

Nothing suprising actually.

Everyone at least 1 game where that happens, right?

Yes, I definitely took this into consideration
Unfortunately, the cases I'm talking about are much much different ...
But I hope I am wrong, because I want to enjoy long chess, and nobody likes to waste 30 minutes or more on a chess game, while having doubts ...

Ok, I understand what you mean, but it was only a thought ;P

I feel you are frustrated, maybe even resigned sometimes and I get that.

There's plenty of cheaters online at whatever type of time control, and this is simply because it is the current state of online chess, regardless of what they tell you.

  1. Masters and everybody at the top 2% don't care about cheaters, they are too strong that (a) most of them can beat 99% of the players anyway and (b) cheaters at their level are easily detected by the system, and will definitely get their accounts closed.

  2. Many "strong" players who are not masters also mock players who are frustrated of cheating for reasons such as: it's going to ruin the game if we keep talking about it, or you are just not good enough so get good, etc...

  3. Then there are the players who cheat (most of the time only using engine moves at specific situations which makes it difficult for cheat detection systems to "flag" or "guarantee" a cheater that will warrant an account close), these players will act like "strong" players and they will band together with these "strong" players in saying that it's all in your head and that you are just not good enough

MEANWHILE....here you are, together with other players like you and me who face cheaters everyday.

What online chess platforms and other players really don't care about is that your feelings are REAL, you don't know what to do, and the players like you will either quit chess or will just start cheating anyway - or maybe you one of the few who can muscle through and keep staying like you are now

Having said that, nobody here cares anyway if we play chess here or not

Why can't you wait for the cheating report then post this? This is just slandering people without actual proof

If I have offended you @Bobjeff01 and anyone here, I apologize.

@derkleineJo yes, I gave the same answer to two different players expressing the same feelings with regards to their cheating experience. If you find that my statements offend you as well, I also apologize.

There's a team on lichess for classical games. I don't know much about it other than it used to exist and it was moderated somewhat to only include people who want a serious game of classical chess. They weed out the people who cheat, who waste time, are abusive, who don't take classical seriously.

I take the forest gump approach to chess. I chose not to worry about cheaters and be happy. I'm going to die of something, but it's not going to be from stress.
